PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lead the accounting and auditing, financial management and information technology functions of the firm; Responsible for overall financial management of the organization; Ensure proper operating effectiveness of internal controls and financial reporting; Oversee the completion of all financial statement projects and execute appropriate tax returns and ensure compliance with relevant IRS regulations; Advise on appropriate tax strategies for organization; This position provides supervision, work direction and technical guidance to accounting and bookkeeping staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manages the accounting and auditing, and information technology functions.
Responsible for performing complex tax preparation, tax research and tax planning.
Responsible for compliance process to ensure adherence with all federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
Perform timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns.
Reviews tax information supplied by the client with appropriate follow up in meetings or calls.
Recognizes, anticipates and resolves tax issues and makes recommendations.
Contacts clients to resolve tax matters and handle tax planning.
Reviews tax work of other firm staff.
Provide federal and state examination support.
Prepares financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
Tax research and analysis of transactions, questions, and issues.
Responsible for initiating and maintaining effective communication with accounting and other cross-functional personnel to ensure tax compliance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain current knowledge of the applicable tax rates, rules, and regulations. Effectively coordinate the implementation and communication of changes.
Develop, maintain, and document compliance processes and procedures.
Analyze business transactions, and when appropriate make recommendations that result in efficiencies in tax compliance.
Explore technology options and solutions, and when appropriate make recommendations of solutions to optimize use of resources.
Participate in cross-training to ensure backup function is in place for all accounting/financial activities of the firm.
Markets firm services to existing and prospective clients.
Meets productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours).
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed including special projects.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Positively support, develop and maintain strong working relationships with all business clients and firm staff.
CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:
CPA Certification required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to become owner of the firm in a series of acquisitions over a 7 to 10 year period (or less).
Base salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a combination of base and incentive pay (or base and bonus pay).
JOB CRITERIA:
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned accounting professional with a track record of providing management and financial leadership within the accounting firm.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years tax experience in public accounting and/or industry required.
Minimum of 3 years experience in sales, use, franchise and other taxes.
Preferred experience working with agricultural producers.
Experience with Research Institute of America (RIAG.Checkpoint) or other tax research tool desired.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required / 150 College Credits
KNOWLEDGE:
Strong working knowledge of financial, business, tax and managerial accounting principles.
Fundamental understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, general ledger, and financial statements.
Solid knowledge of income tax and financial statement issues related to agricultural producers preferred.
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel a plus.
SKILLS/ABILITY/OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Ability to perform and review compiled and reviewed financial statements.
Ability to lead others.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.
Ability to make decisions and operate independently with respect to complex issues and business requirements.
Ability to function in a team environment.
Strong verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
Ability to assist with tax examination process.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external business relationships.
Ability to interpret tax laws, rules, and regulations.
